Decision #1: Lease or Buy

Most store owners in today's world own their own equipment.  This is because of the ease in getting equipment, simplicity in maintaining, and increased profit in owning.

In the early 2000's, leasing equipment was the only real option for Business Owners.  Back then, the Gaming Systems were all server based, which means the network, computers, and monitors all had to be exactly what the Gaming Systems required.  If any cable, router, switch, computer, or monitor did not have proper specs or is not configured properly the entire system would not function.  That is why almost every Business Owner Leased equipment.  Depending on the deal, most Lease agreements require the Business Owner to pay some or none upfront, then an extra 5%-20% in software fees to pay for the equipment installation and rental.  A typical example of a lease agreement around 2010 would be 40% (25% for software, 15% for equipment lease, and $4,000 Security Deposit).  Some deals would be less if screens were smaller, or a small quantity of Equipment.

In today's world, almost all Gaming Systems are web based, which means to operate, you only need to access a website on any device.  Plus the technology used to setup a store is so much more affordable and accessible than in the past.

This is why most Business Owners in todays world Purchase equipment, it is almost the same cost upfront, and you get much more profit.

Decision #2: What Equipment to Get

One of the easiest ways to increase your Sales and Hold, is to improve your store equipment, so your customers have a better experience:

  • Bigger Screens cause customers to stay longer.  This is why movie theaters are still in business.
  • Vertical Screens provide a fun towering experience for customers, where they tell their friends and invite them for the experience.
  • New comfortable Chairs increase the amount of time customers sit in chairs.  The longer the customers stay in the business, the more success the Business Owner will experience

Investing in quality screens, and in comfortable chairs is necessary if you are looking to provide the best experience for your customers.

2 types of Equipment today's Business Owners put in stores:

  • Big Screen TVs: Big Screen TV's are more affordable now more than ever.  Stores that use Vertical Big Screen TV's as monitors notice a huge profit because of the enhanced experience
  • 26 inch Tablets: For store owners that don't have the space for TV's, they get large tablets with the built in stand.  These are only a couple hundred dollars, look like a computer, are touch screen, and are on Wi-Fi. Tablets are replacing traditional computers because for the same cost, you can get 2-3 client stations with tablets, for the cost of 1 computer and monitor.  Plus tablets look better, and are faster to install.

Decision #3: Where to purchase equipment

Typically, there are only a handful of different sources used to when buying equipment, they are:

  • Alibaba.com: Typically best priced, longest shipping
  • Walmart.com: Good price
  • Amazon.com: Fastest Shipping

There are other options out there, but most new business owners are very busy and often place orders at night, making a reliable shipper essential.  We always recommend testing any equipment in small quantities before fully committing to it for business use.

The above vendors offer a wide variety and quality of equipment with good warranties.
